The Navajo Nation is the largest reservation in the United States spanning across 27,000 square miles of land within Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. Yet it contains one of the highest unemployment (42%) and poverty rate (43%) among reservations. For those over the age of 25, 56% of the population hold a high school diploma and only 7% with a college degree. La Vida Mission is an independent Seventh-day Adventist boarding school that serves the Navajo Nation in White Rock, New Mexico. Help La Vida Mission by donating money to send youth from the North Bay Area to make an impact on the lives of Navajo Nation youth.
On October 26 & 28, the Santa Rosa SDA Church will be joining forces with local volunteers to sponsor a health clinic. We will be reaching out to the neighbors of our city, to offer free medical, dental, and optometric services. This effort will be coordinated with AMEN Clinic (Adventist Medical Evangelist Network). We will be providing services for anyone who needs eyeglasses, dental cleanings, tooth fillings and extractions, and screenings for blood pressure and diabetes.
Together, in two days, we can impact the health and well-being of our city. It is a beautiful thing to see people taking care of each other, investing their time in personal interaction. This event will give individuals an opportunity to make decisions on maintaining their health and making lifestyle changes that will benefit their future. This dedication of time and funding gives our dear neighbors a sense of worth that someone cares for them personally.
